Yes - “Sweat it”! It’ll benefit your health!

Sweat - You are so full of it!!!

Of course this statement is not meant insult! It is simply implying that all of us are carrying a burden of toxins in our bodies, and that the simple process of sweating can be one of the healthiest things that the body can do to clear them.

Toxins enter out bodies from car exhaust, herbicides, pesticides, prescription or over-the-counter drugs, cleaning products, body care products, eating commercial meats and fish, plastics and so on that are almost ubiquitous these days (apparently most of us have micro- and nanoplastics in our blood and all the different organs in our bodies).

These toxins have been detected in the blood of adults, children, and even in the umbilical blood of newborn babies. Over time these toxins can disrupt the immune system leading to recurrent inflections, allergies, autoimmunity, or even cancer. They can impact the endocrine system creating thyroid problems, reproductive hormone problems, low sperm and infertility, skin conditions like acne, psoriasis, or eczema. Even fatigue, tremors, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, dementia, and Alzheimer’s can all be aggravated by the toxins we are being exposed to.

Consider the (true) case of a farm worker from eastern Washington. This patient was responsible for spraying Round-Up (a well known toxic weed killer) over the fields to help manage the weeds. Over time he developed fatigue, weakness, muscle twitching, abdominal cramping, difficulty breathing, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. He reported feeling awful all the time and as if he was going to die.

The patient was put on a detoxification protocol that involved lymphatic, kidney and liver support along with binders to absorb toxins in the body - but the the cornerstone of the treatment was regular use of sauna - in particular Infrared Sauna. After 6 months his symptoms were completely resolved but he continued to sauna regularly after buying a unit for home use.

Sweating, while optimized in a sauna, is something that comes naturally to the human body when given the right impetus. Exercise is a key mechanism which helps bring about sweating which henceforth allows for the elimination of toxins from the body. Hot tub, warm bath and regular sauna, even gardening outside on a warm day, are additional ways to elevate the core temperature thus promoting sweating.

One of pillars for maintaining health is regular detoxification and whether is through vigorous exercise, steam baths, infrared or dry sauna, in today’s world it is vital for regaining and maintaining health.

So the bottom line is - don’t be embarrassed of sweat stains or a glowing forehead after your run - embrace them - they are signs you’re optimizing your health!
